Easter Baskets

On Friday, Apr. 2nd - Good Friday - we were able to deliver large packages of food - including fresh produce - to families that have been part of our Summer Reading Mentor program.

The week before we placed an order for non-perishable items to pick up today. Due to COVID-19, the agency store where we can usually add packages of meat, dairy, produce and bread has been closed. BUT Friday, when we arrived to pick up the non-perishables, off to the side was a few pallets of fresh produce we could select from for Free.

  • Each family received boxes and bags filled with:

  • Lunchables (a favorite, hard to get item)

  • Can of peaches

  • 3 cans of spaghetti with meatballs,

  • 2 boxes of pasta

  • 2 bags of rice

  • an assortment of protein and granola bars3 bags of popcorn

  • 3 bell peppers

  • 4 bags of mini carrots

  • 3 cucumbers

  • 4 oranges

  • 3 bags of romaine hearts

  • 2 rolls of cookie dough

  • and more

Since it was Easter weekend we also gave each family an Easter basket with candy-filled Easter eggs, chocolate bunnies, and a cross.

After delivering, one of the families commented: You guys are such a blessing! What a wonderful healthy basket! The kiddos really enjoyed getting an Easter basket too.

We're grateful to be able to provide food to the families we serve. Thank you so much for your support that makes this possible.
